Sinclair Stations Simplify Network Setup with Mako Networks

Sinclair stations can eliminate redundant network components from their networks by using Mako Networks 6000-series appliances.

ELGIN, IL, May 7, 2019 – Sinclair stations using Gilbarco Passport POS systems used to need a serial-to-IP converter called a MicroNode to send credit card payments to First Data. When sites move to the new Sinclair standard network setup, using the Mako Networks 6600-M/LTE network appliances, stations eliminate the need for a MicroNode by enabling Passport to communicate with First Data directly via IP at speeds up to three times faster than the current serial connection.

In addition to removing the MicroNode, Mako eliminates the need for a Secure Zone Router, further simplifying setup, maintenance and support of Sinclair sites. Mako appliances are designed to provide a full suite of networking features in a single network component, eliminating other components to reduce equipment and maintenance costs.

“Mako appliances do much more than simply networking. Mako’s smart technology can often make your other equipment smarter,” said Simon Gamble, President, Mako Networks. “Deploying Mako results in a faster, simpler and more secure network.”

Mako Networks is the only Sinclair-endorsed vendor to deliver PCI-compliant managed network appliances and services to Sinclair stations nationwide. Sinclair deploys Mako’s 6600-M/LTE appliances and receives Mako’s manufacturer-certified MNSP services for stations with Gilbarco Passport, Verifone Commander, and Fiscal POS systems.
