Mako Central Management System

The Mako System is a PCI-certified, cloud-managed, carrier-independent networking solution that makes it easy to connect and manage thousands of global sites in a high-performance SD-WAN business network that has no single point of failure and is secure, reliable, scalable and cost-effective. It consists of two parts: the Mako Central Management System (CMS) network management application, and a range of managed network devices installed at customer locations or virtualized in the Cloud. These Mako devices can only be managed in the Mako CMS, which protects them from accidental or malicious local misconfiguration.

Your Network at a Glance

The Mako CMS is the cloud application through which all Mako devices are configured, deployed and managed. It is a “single pane of glass” user interface, with multi-factor authentication and role-based access available to authorized users at any time, 24/7, on any Internet-connected device with a web browser.

Remote Configuration and Automated Alerts

Configuration changes are applied in near real-time, with alerts generated for key events, such as WAN failover. Templating significantly reduces deployment time and simplifies maintenance by applying common configurations, such as firewall rules, to thousands of distributed enterprise sites at once. Easily connect sites to a resilient, enterprise-grade Mako VPN Cloud with just a few clicks.

Reports and Diagnostics

A powerful suite of reports and diagnostics provides insight into the health and performance of every device, the circuits that connect them and the overall network.

Distributed Networking Features

CLOUD CONFIGURATION

Mako devices are exclusively configured via the Mako CMS. They have no local configuration capability to greatly enhance security and deliver efficient, centralized control. Multi-factor authentication maximizes access security. Authorized users have complete visibility of all network sites and connections, while role-based privileges enable delegation of support tasks to appropriately qualified staff.

ENTERPRISE TEMPLATES

With the Mako System, you can perform network administration on one site or thousands of sites at once. Complex firewall rules can be templated and deployed to thousands of Mako devices via the Mako CMS, massively reducing the time to implement changes. Mako’s PCI-certified enterprise templates facilitate bulk security configuration of Mako devices and make it easy to demonstrate compliance when necessary.

ZERO-TOUCH DEPLOYMENT

Zero-touch deployment means you can install a Mako device by attaching it to power, broadband and your local network without touching its configuration, which is possible because each Mako device automatically receives site-specific configuration information from the cloud-based Mako CMS. Remote sites can get up and running quickly and easily, including running on cellular while you wait for terrestrial broadband installation.

MAKO VPN CLOUD

Connect retail locations or other remote sites to head offices, data centers or third-party vendors easily. Mako VPN Cloud allows you to connect to other sites in seconds with a few clicks in the Mako CMS, all without requiring static IP addresses. Your data is encrypted in both transmission directions for maximum security. And Mako VPN Cloud scales easily with your distributed enterprise, eliminating networking pain points caused by rapid growth and inconsistent environments. Mako VPN Clouds are carrier-independent and can be established over any kind of broadband connection, including cellular.

FAST FAILOVER

Choose the amount of internet reliability and resiliency your business needs. The Mako System supports circuit, hardware and geographic redundancy, allowing for flexible, reliable connectivity across any combination of broadband circuit types. Fast failover configurations deliver seamless connectivity that keeps stateful data like live voice calls connected through a failover event. These affordable high availability options offer businesses continuity during unexpected service interruptions.

NEXT-GEN FIREWALL

Most Mako security gateways feature Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) technology, including packet inspection and Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS/IPS). All traffic entering and leaving a network is scrutinized to ensure network connections are authorized and intrusion attempts are identified and blocked. Port scanning protection, worm detection, MAC address control and complex firewall rules can be templated and deployed to thousands of Mako devices at once via the Mako CMS, massively reducing the time to implement changes and ensuring an organization’s security posture is readily up to date.

VLAN SEGMENTATION

Take advantage of VLAN support to implement advanced segmentation configurations. The Mako System can handle any network design you can imagine, meeting any enterprise-wide requirements or site-specific accommodations.

ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS

Run commands on your Mako devices using the diagnostic tools in the Mako CMS. Troubleshoot issues related to configuration, connectivity, performance and more to fine-tune the behavior of your network.

REPORTS AND ANALYTICS

Streamline operations, control data costs and more with reports and analytics. The Mako CMS carefully tracks a variety of metrics, such as internet usage for each site, and presents visualizations of this data to authorized users, who can use this as they see fit to adjust business practices or to automate Mako CMS actions, such as disabling internet access, when a certain event occurs or a threshold is reached.

PROACTIVE ALERTS

Subscribe to real-time notifications of potential network issues, including worm alerts, online/offline status, WAN failover, VPN health, intrusion detection, unauthorized devices and more. Authorized Mako CMS users can elect to receive proactive alerts via email, webhooks (for integration with Teams, Slack, etc.) or NetFlow (for an existing SIEM platform).
