Mako Networks Year in Review: 2019

Mako Networks enjoyed a record-setting year in 2019. Here are some highlights.

Mako continued to grow in many verticals including the convenience and fuel retailing industry, welcoming Sinclair alongside a steadily increasing install base in existing customers. With a full lineup of high-security, high-performance networking products and services designed from the ground up for distributed retail enterprises, Mako is a perfect fit in this space.

Mako’s presence in the quick service restaurant industry grew significantly this year. The ease of deploying and scaling the Mako System is a real advantage for newer companies that are not heavily invested in old, outdated equipment and expensive à la carte service plans, such as new Mako customers Cici’s, Chicken Salad Chick, and Your Pie.

Mako’s existing partnership with CBE expanded in 2019 to add a broader range of Mako services to CBE’s portfolio of retail solutions and to offer Mako services to additional market verticals. New partnerships with Sprint IoT, Driven Technologies, and others also provided Mako with new channels for growth in 2019.

Mako unveiled an all-new hardware lineup, introducing the Mako 6600-M appliance for small sites and the Mako 7600 and Mako 8600 VPN concentrators for physical or virtual datacenter deployment, with increased performance across the board and additional failover configuration options.

Mako’s new and improved for 2019 intrusion detection/intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and NetFlow monitoring further increased security, making it easier to deploy and manage security at scale.

The Mako System’s ability to deliver HIgh Availability using its Fast Failover technology allowed Mako to introduce the new Mako Voice service, a full-featured, high-performance VoIP solution that can deliver Seamless Voice functionality, an automatic failover from one broadband network to a second broadband or LTE network without dropping or disrupting active calls.

After earning MNSP certifications for both Verifone and Gilbarco in 2019, Mako is ready to play its part in 2020 for new and existing convenience and fuel retail customers as they prepare to meet an October 2020 deadline imposed by credit card brands for outdoor smart payment card compatibility. Mako appliances modernize network security by combining a managed firewall and zone router. This eliminates the need for a separate zone router, such as the EZR for Verifone Commander and the SZR for Gilbarco Passport.

Moving into 2020, Mako Networks anticipates another year packed with activity and growth. There are new customers and partnerships yet to be announced in addition to new hardware and software in development, and CMS infrastructure improvements underway. We look forward to sharing all the details as the year progresses.
