Mako Networks Joins NZ Trade Mission to Thailand

Mako Networks was one of 22 companies invited to participate in a trade mission to Thailand last month organized by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise. During the week-long visit, Mako met with key Thai business contacts and was able to further evaluate the specific security requirements of the market. New Zealand’s delegation was led by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. John Key and Minister for Primary Industries, Hon. Nathan Guy.

“The trade mission was an excellent opportunity for us to further develop Mako’s presence in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian region,” said Mako Networks CEO Bill Farmer. “Thailand in particular has seen a raft of card fraud incidents this year, and the market is certainly paying attention to the greater need for cybersecurity solutions. As a result of this trade mission, we’ve been able to both open new dialogues and enhance ongoing discussions with a number of potential new partners in the country.”

According to NZTE, Thailand is New Zealand’s tenth largest bilateral trading partner, and the volume of goods trade has doubled since the signing of the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (CEP) in 2005.

Mako currently works with a number of distributors in the Southeast Asia region, including Strateq of Malaysia and IT Consulting & Services in Singapore, and is actively pursuing an expansion into the Thai market.

More information about the trade mission can be found on the NZTE website.
