Mako Networks to Supply Sunoco With Managed Network Appliances and Services

Mako Networks and Sunoco LP have agreed to a direct supply contract allowing for delivery of PCI-compliant Mako managed network appliances and services to Sunoco dealers nationwide. Dealers will acquire Mako managed services directly from Sunoco.

Sunoco deploys Mako’s newest 6600-series edge appliances with an embedded dual-SIM LTE module and an active pooled cellular data plan from Sprint, Verizon, or T-Mobile, depending on best available coverage. With a sealed, tamper-proof case, no moving parts, and high heat tolerance, the Mako 6600 is suited to tough environments like those at petroleum retailers.

Sunoco’s Mako solution is configured to provide fast failover from broadband service to the Mako’s built-in cellular LTE connection, allowing dealers to maintain full network operation during broadband service outages.

Sunoco dealers with Gilbarco Passport and Verifone Commander POS systems will receive Mako’s manufacturer-certified MNSP services for those systems which allows dealers to eliminate the SZR for Gilbarco Passport systems and the EZR for Verifone installations, simplifying retail location networks and streamlining support. Additionally, dealers using Gilbarco will no longer need a Micronode when using Mako, speeding up transactions for Passport users.
