New deals in Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines expand global presence
Mako Networks has reached agreements with Strateq of Malaysia, AMTI and 3D Networks of the Philippines and IT Consulting & Services of Singapore to distribute Mako network management and security solutions, including Mako’s range of network appliances and cloud-based Central Management System for connection, protection, control and reporting of Internet-related activity.
Mako’s entry to these markets is the result of an initiative commencing earlier in the year, with the appointment of Bruce Jarvis as Mako’s Vice President for the Asia region. Through market research supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and commercial discussions with prospective partners, it became evident that the solutions previously provided in the region were falling short of the security and connection requirements of businesses operating there.
“Our initial market research showed us the Asian market was particularly underserved when it came to affordable network security and connectivity. Thanks to a concerted effort and the support of NZTE, we are making substantial headway in a market keen for the functionality and security our solutions provide,” says Bill Farmer, Mako Networks CEO. “Our distribution channel now circles the globe, with established partners operating in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America.”
The Mako System is able to securely migrate critical business data (including payment transactions) onto public broadband, thanks to Mako’s unique Level 1 Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification—the highest security clearance attainable for protecting credit card data. Mako was able to reduce network costs for one Asian customer by 75 percent in this way.

To support a growing base of customers and channel partners, Mako Networks now also employs a regional support helpdesk based in Singapore.
