Mako Power 100 Diagram
Thank you for purchasing the Mako Power 100 GSM Power Socket. This product is designed to allow you to use the Mako Central Management System (CMS) to remotely control AC power to a dependent device connected to the product. It is a completely wireless M2M (machine to machine) device, only requiring power and cellular service. Additionally, when power is restored after an outage, this product will resume supplying power to the dependent device and will send an alert to the Mako CMS.
Connecting Your Mako Device
1. Verify SIM Card Is Inserted
Your Mako Power 100 should have arrived with an appropriate SIM card already inserted in the SIM Card Slot on the left side of the device. Verify that the SIM card is inserted correctly.
If you need to insert the SIM card, hold the device so its Power Socket is facing you, then insert the SIM card into the SIM Card Slot with the cut edge going into the device first and the gold contacts facing you. Gently push the SIM card all the way in until it clicks.
If you need to release the SIM card, push gently on it until it pops out.
2. Connect Temperature Sensor
Connect the temperature sensor to the Temperature Sensor Connection port on the right side of the Mako Power 100. The temperature sensor must be pushed all the way in, otherwise it may give inaccurate readings.
3. Connect to Power
Connect the Mako Power 100 plug directly into a mains power outlet, then press the Power Button on the right side of the device.
If the SIM card is inserted correctly and connected to an available mobile network, the GSM Indicator LED will fade on and off and the device is ready to be used.
Refer to the LED Light Indicator Key table below for more details regarding the device’s lights.
4. Connect the Dependent Device
Connect the plug of the dependent device directly into the Power Outlet on the Mako Power 100.
The power state of the Mako Power 100 (either “On” or “Off”) controls whether or not the dependent device is supplied with power. The power state can be toggled remotely via SMS messages or locally via the Power Button.
5. Log In to the Mako CMS (Optional)
Your Mako Networks reseller should have preconfigured a profile for your Mako device in the Mako CMS and should also have provided you with login credentials to access the Mako CMS to control and manage your Mako device.
The Mako CMS can be accessed by clicking the “Login” link at:
In the Mako CMS, you can view the latest status (power state and temperature) provided by the Mako Power 100 as well as its event log.
You can also send SMS requests to this device:
- Get Status – device responds with current status
- Send Power Off – device switches power state to “Off” and responds with current status
- Send Power On – device switches power state to “On” and responds with current status
NOTE: if you change the SIM card, you will need to update the phone number setting for this device in the Mako CMS in order to continue sending and receiving SMS messages.
6. Firmware Updates
In certain cases, you may receive additional instructions from Mako Networks for updating the Mako Power 100 device firmware using the Firmware Port. Do not use the Firmware Port for any other purpose.
