Use only approved antennas provided by Mako Networks. Non-approved antennas may produce unwanted, spurious, or excessive RF transmitting power, which may lead to violation of federal regulations, and are prohibited.

Orient device vertically with the installation angle of each antenna perpendicular to the ground. Failure to do so could lead to excessive output power and federal penalties.

Maintain a safe distance. This device must be installed where it can remain a minimum distance of 20 cm from any person under normal operating conditions.

Installed height must be above 2 meters.

Connecting Your Mako Device

1. Attach External Antennas

This Mako device comes with four antennas. Attach these antennas to the Mako device as shown. Screw the 5GHz antennas on to the connectors labeled “5GHz.” Screw the 2.4GHz antennas on to the connectors labeled “2.4GHz.”

2. Install Mounting Bracket

Mount the Mako device to either a wall or a pole using the provided mounting bracket and hardware.

Follow all Important Safety Instructions listed above when choosing a mounting location.

WALL MOUNT

Use the mounting screw set that contains the appropriate wall anchors for your wall material.

  1. Position MOUNTING BRACKET against wall and mark hole/slot of each of four mounting tabs.
  2. Drill a pilot hole at each mark and press an ANCHOR into each hole until flush with wall.
  3. Insert an ANCHOR SCREW through a mounting tab hole/slot, then drive it into the aligned ANCHOR.  Repeat for three remaining ANCHOR SCREWS.

POLE MOUNT

Use the top/bottom pair of slots to install on a vertical pole.

Use the left/right pair of slots to install on a horizontal pole.

  1. Thread open end of first POLE MOUNT STRAP through first slot on MOUNTING BRACKET.  Repeat with second POLE MOUNT STRAP using second slot on MOUNTING BRACKET.
  2. Position MOUNTING BRACKET against pole, then lock and tighten POLE MOUNT STRAPS around pole.

3. Install Mako Device

After securing the mounting bracket to either a wall or pole, mount the Mako device to the bracket and connect to ground.

  1. Attach ring terminal end of GROUND WIRE to MAKO DEVICE using GROUND SCREW.
  2. Remove SIDE SCREW from side hole of MAKO DEVICE.
  3. Hang MAKO DEVICE on mounting pins of MOUNTING BRACKET, then slide MAKO DEVICE left to lock in place.
  4. Insert SIDE SCREW through hole of MOUNTING BRACKET aligned with side hole of MAKO DEVICE, then drive SIDE SCREW back into side hole.
  5. Connect other end of GROUND WIRE to reliable ground.

4. Weatherproof Connection

This Mako device is designed for outdoor use with an IEC ingress protection code of IP67, which means it is rated as dustproof as well as waterproof for up to 30 minutes in freshwater at depths up to 1 meter.

Follow these steps to create a weatherproof (IP67) connection to the LAN (PoE) port.

  1. Unscrew CAP and remove SEAL assembly.
  2. Remove SEAL SPACER from SEAL CAGE, separating two SEAL SPACER pieces and central SPACER PLUG.
NOTE: SPACER PLUG is not needed for operation and can be set aside.
  3. Feed your ETHERNET CABLE (not provided) through CAP and SEAL CAGE, then connect ETHERNET CABLE to LAN (PoE) interface on MAKO DEVICE.
  4. Snap two SEAL SPACER pieces together around ETHERNET CABLE between SEAL CAGE and MAKO DEVICE, then slide SEAL SPACER into SEAL CAGE.
  5. Position SEAL assembly next to MAKO DEVICE and screw on CAP tightly, taking care to align threads for optimal protection.

5. PoE Adapter Connection

Connect the Mako device to power and to your local network using the PoE adapter.

  1. Connect LAN (PoE) port on MAKO DEVICE to PoE port on PoE ADAPTER using Ethernet cable.
  2. Connect power port on  PoE ADAPTER to grounded electrical outlet using POWER CORD.
  3. Connect LAN port on PoE ADAPTER to your local network using another Ethernet cable.

6. Log In to the Mako CMS (Optional)

Your Mako device gets its configuration from the Mako Central Management System (CMS). Your Mako Networks reseller should have preconfigured a profile for your Mako device in the Mako CMS and should also have provided you with login credentials to access the Mako CMS to control and manage your Mako device.

The Mako CMS can be accessed by clicking the “Login” link at:
