Mako 6500-M Network Appliances
The 6500-M continues Mako’s legacy of design innovation, building on the award-winning 6500 platform and incorporating new features that deliver fast, flexible and secure networks for businesses with small sites. With a sealed tamper-evident unit, no moving parts and high heat tolerance, the 6500-M adds LTE, 1Gbps transfer speed technology, more wireless channels and four LAN ports.
Built with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in mind, the Mako 6500-M allows businesses to quickly and easily segment their payment networks, apply strict security controls, and lock down their systems to PCI DSS criteria.
Fast, Flexible Connection Options
Mako 6500‐M appliances provide WAN connectivity via Gigabit Ethernet, and a fast and multi-carrier capable LTE connection. However your business connects to the Internet, Mako protects it.
Embedded Wireless
The Mako 6500-M features single or dual-band 802.11 b/g/n wireless for customer hotspots or general business use, supporting up to four wireless networks in one appliance. Retailers can even use Mako’s secure wireless tor tablet-based POS systems.
Fast LTE and Failover
If enabled, the Mako 6500‐M will automatically switch over to use LTE if the fixed-line network connection drops, protecting businesses in case of unexpected interruptions. This non-stop network feature provides high availability at a business-friendly cost. Where fixed-line connections are impractical, LTE can also be set as the primary connection method. Mako’s LTE connection works with all U.S. carriers, and is certified on the Sprint network.
PCI DSS-Certified
The entire Mako System – including the 6500-M, our wireless, Central Management System and software – is PCI DSS certified from end-to-end, providing peace of mind and security for businesses accepting credit cards.
Centralized Logging/Reporting
Using a patented communications protocol, Mako 6500‐M appliances securely send traffic information to the Mako Central Management System every few minutes. This data is used to generate easy‐to-understand graphical reports about the network, including data use by site, user and timeframe, intrusion attempts and Internet traffic records.
Easy Virtual Private Networks
Remote locations connected by Mako appliances and VPN concentrators can be linked in seconds by three easy mouse clicks via the CMS, all without requiring static IP addresses. Each Mako 6500‐M can simultaneously link up to 20 external VPNs.
Simple Troubleshooting
A color-coded LED panel on the Mako 6500-M provides Internet and network connection information at a glance. For non-technical users, this makes it easy to quickly diagnose network issues. When technical support is needed, helpdesk technicians use the CMS to view and control the appliance status, connections and configuration, making it easy to troubleshoot and resolve issues without the need for site visits.
Quick and Easy to Deploy
Like all Mako appliances, the 6500‐M automatically receives configuration information from the Mako CMS via the cloud, so sites are up and running quickly and easily.
