Mako Networks Releases CMS-Managed Switch Line

Mako managed switches feature GbE PoE ports and full management via the Mako Central Management System.

ELGIN, IL, April 2, 2020 – A new line of managed switches are available now from Mako Networks in 8-port and 24-port versions, allowing extension of the Mako secure networking solution into a broader range of applications and increasing port density for customers who require it. The Mako 1008-SW/P 8-port and Mako 1024-SW/P 24-port managed switches allow fine-grained control of networks of any size, and offer Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), full VLAN support, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) on all ports. The new switches are also fully PCI compliant, with all management performed within the Mako Central Management System (CMS).

As with all Mako appliances, the new switches can only be managed from the Mako CMS, with no on-box or other local means of managing the appliance, greatly enhancing network security. The Mako CMS gives verified, authorized users 24/7 access to a complete suite of cloud-based tools for advanced configuration, zero-touch deployment, enterprise reporting, and troubleshooting diagnostics, making Mako managed switches easy to deploy and support at both the site and enterprise levels. Because the entire Mako System—including all Mako network appliances, the Mako CMS, and the onboard software—is PCI DSS certified from end‐to‐end, the Mako system provides customers the peace of mind of third-party certified security, rather than just a “best-effort” solution.

“Our customers wanted high-quality managed switches that could be fully controlled from the Mako CMS,” said Simon Gamble, President of Mako Networks. “We saw an opportunity to provide a slick, integrated Mako experience in a highly secure, managed switch form factor, meeting our customers’ needs and expanding our ability to deliver value in their evolving network environments.”

With the release of Mako managed switches and with additional Mako products slated for release in 2020, customers will have more options than ever for simplifying the complex task of creating and managing networks across the distributed enterprise.

“These are challenging times for all businesses, but we are very pleased that our evolving product lineup will help our customers cost-effectively maintain secure and stable network environments and keep business flowing even in circumstances where there are no onsite resources in place,” says Gamble. “All Mako products are designed as an extension of the remotely managed network model we established at our outset, and these new switches expand on that concept, fitting perfectly within our overall solution.”
